A Sneak peek At The Xbox 360 Project Natal

January 19, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Following hot on the heels of the Wii's motion sensing technology, Microsoft hope to take this one better with Xbox 360 Project Natal. Revealed during 2009's E3 meeting, this add-on accessory for the Xbox 360 is said to allow completely controller-free interaction with games, sensing movement and translating that as controls in the title.

Xbox 360 Project Natal is said to be available around the end of 2010, and Microsoft hope that the accessory will become a vital part of all existing Xbox consoles. They also confirm that this revolutionary technology will stretch the active life of the 360 considerably, and is, for all intents and purposes, a next-gen accessory.

The accessory includes a depth sensor coupled with an RGB camera, which hands the Xbox 360 Project Natal a 360 degree arc of recognition. The recognition is so cutting edge that even tiny facial expressions can be interpreted and converted on-screen. The range of recognition can also be extended or shortened as the gamer wishes, with the possibility of including surrounding objects like tables or cabinets.

Along with movement, the Xbox 360 Project Natal also has the ability to interpret sound. The multi-array microphone within can be employed to recognise sound and relay vocal information on the television. These elements mix to offer total interactivity between gamer and videogame.

As the technology employed to create both Natal and the titles it will interact with is reasonably unique, Microsoft have said that current Xbox 360 titles probably will not support Natal, and that a brand new range of titles are in progress. Some technical demos shown at E3 saw Space Invaders Extreme and Paint Party, a game in which pots of paint are manipulated by the gamer to paint canvasses.

Time will tell as to whether the Xbox 360 Project Natal will instill the awe Microsoft are looking for. Whilst the specs are clearly revolutionary and due to trump even the Wii's signature card, Microsoft need to announce more engaging titles to gain increased customer interest. With the right titles coupled with it, the Xbox 360 Project Natal could actually be the future of videogaming!

What Can Xbox Live Offer You?

November 5, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Xbox 360 currently offers gamers the opportunity to communicate with each other, using the add-on feature known as Xbox Live. If you're an Xbox Live user, you are instantly part of the chat list. Therefore, you are able to chat and discuss anytime with your friends and family through the Xbox 360 headset. Moreover, you can interact and organize a gaming throwdown with countless other Xbox users. Xbox Live also allows you to buy content in Xbox Live Marketplace, download additional videogame content and even watch preview videos.

If users are enticed by these functions and wish to become an Xbox Live member, then there are two memberships to choose from, classified into two distinct services - gold and silver.

Up first, the silver service is just the basic version of Xbox Live. Going for this version, users can easily get online and download gaming titles. On top of this, you are given the capacity to use their own voice to talk and meet with other Xbox Live users. However, this is all Xbox Live silver provides subscribers with. If you're searching for the optimum Xbox Live experience, Xbox Live gold is what you must go for.

Secondly, the Xbox Live Gold option has various features that make it an awesome way to play on the internet. Apart from the incredible Xbox Live features, it provides gamers with a host of additional add-ons. There is improved chat compatability, as well as interaction with a host of Microsoft products, including messenger and further chat and video programs. The most prominent feature of Xbox Live gold is the manner in which your online avatar is shown to the world. Every account is free to create a distinct 'motto' showing to other gamers online, even linking to Facebook. Furthermore, you're also able to hold a record of your accomplishments. As you play more and more you gradually forge a reputation, and if users like you they are able to rank you positively, making it easier to avoid interacting with users holding bad outlook.

Players can also build a contact list which will list all of your selected chums. It'll also inform you when any of your buddies come online. There is also a recent player list that will record the last fifty friends that you have met.

Xbox Live is as good as Xbox gaming gets. It not only offers great gaming but also provides you with the chance to share your experience with other users!

Xbox 360 Failure: What To Do Next

September 16, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

We all have a standard fear in our everyday lives; the possible failure of various machines we use. We just don't want it to be happening to us, especially if that machine is our sparkly Xbox 360. However, you don't need to fear even in the event of an Xbox 360 failure. If you know the reason then part of your issues are solved. An Xbox 360 failure is a common blight experienced by many videogamers all around the globe.

The Xbox 360 failure is generally indicated by red LED bulbs on the console itself. So how do you know what blunder you hold in your console by having a look at the lights? The explanation follows;

If it's 2 red lights popping up on your console, then the probable cause for this Xbox 360 failure might be overheating of the motherboard. The easiest way to beat this Xbox 360 failure is by shutting down your machine for some time so that the motherboard can settle down.

If you see 1 or 3 red lights appearing on your console then this is generally some recognised hardware and software problems which can be overcome by fixing the console.

The most dreadful Xbox 360 failure that you can find is signified by a red circle of light on your console. This crash is something that falls in the 'fatal error' category. This generally occurs due to an inner structural failing in your Xbox. This simply means that the makers did not put a cooling device of adequate size within the console. Therefore overheating has a tendency to bring down the game processing unit and causes an Xbox 360 failure.

There's no call to panic, though, because some easy precautions can make sure that your Xbox 360 will not fail.

As the majority of the failures spring from overheating it's ideal to keep your console in a spot where there's open movement of air, and no more heat-emitting sources in the vicinity. It may be tough for avid game players, but a sensible thing to do could be to allow your console regular rest spells and avoid long continuous videogaming sessions. That way one can also rest your eyes and hands and start with a fresh fervour some other time.

But if you have indeed experienced an Xbox 360 failure you need not ship it off to Microsoft in a rush. You can purchase some Xbox repair guides from the Internet, which might save everyone a lot of time and cash. Be sure not to overpay for these and also try to go for one which has been tried and tested by others. If you can get your hands on a good guide then you can be your own Xbox mechanic! If all else fails though, keep in mind it's your right to have a working machine- you paid for it after all- so don't hesitate to contact Microsoft if you are in doubt.

So the next time you encounter an Xbox 360 failure, you know where to go next!

Which Xbox 360 Package Should You Go For?

August 18, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Prospective Xbox 360 owners are faced with a significant dilemma before purchase : which Xbox 360 package should they choose?

Well, considering that these bundles are each separated by $100 in their respective price tags, the problem becomes a decision that should merit major consideration.
When it comes to price, there is no doubt that the arcade bundle has the advantage at $199. The Xbox 360 Premium comes at $299, while the Select bundle is the most costly at $399.

When it comes to the completeness of the gaming experience, then the Xbox 360 Select is the king. With 120GB drive and HDMI 1.2 wires packaged with the bundle, this selection is loaded. But it doesn't stop there. The Select bundle also offers something that can never be acquired anywhere else: a black console with a black controller. To round it off, the Game of Year copy of the Xbox 360 Select bundle incorporates two big games, both of which are exclusives : Halo 3 and Fable 2. The colonnade bundle incorporates one full game and two Xbox Live colonnade games, but it doesn't provide a drive. A tough drive is necessary in this era, especially since the new Xbox Live Experience has permitted game-players to install games from DVDs to their hard drives.

So, what to buy?

If you are on a limited humble budget, go for the colonnade bundle. If you have money to spare, go for the Select package. But if you are like the rest of us who just want to play the games and luxuriate in the experience that the console can provide, go for the Xbox 360 Premium.

No two Xbox 360 dashboards have to look the same because owners have a wide choice of wallpapers to use as backgrounds.

Below are the five coolest Xbox 360 wallpapers we have encountered :

1. An image of the Covenant from Halo banqueting on the corpse of Mario. It would be funnier if Masterchief was there but declined to give a helping hand.

2. Marcus Fenix ripping Kratos apart. The face of the Gears of War shows the God of War icon who's boss.

3 Gordon Freeman, Masterchief, Marcus Fenix, and Alan Wake replacing the 4 survivors from Left 4 Dead. Talk about cool! 4 of the Xbox 360's biggest and most recognizable characters taking on a regiment of the undead in one of the Xbox 360's greatest games. Many fans view this as the mother of all Xbox 360 wallpapers.

4. Left 4 Dead featuring children in a playground warding off the advancing throng of zombie bullies. This isn't actually something created by Xbox 360 wallpaper enthusiasts but by famous artist Jason Chan. The image was so unique that it instantly became one of the most downloaded Xbox 360 wallpapers since its release.

5. Raiden's face signifying the approach of Metal Gear Solid : Rising to the Xbox 360. Sure, it's an image you have seen 1,000,000 times by this point. However, it is an image that screams to be a part of the library of great Xbox 360 wallpapers. Should You Buy An Xbox360 Or A PS3?

July 1, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

We are in the age of the following generation of consoles, and it's quite a battle between Microsoft's highly strong Xbox 360 and Sony's equally impressive PlayStation 3. Which console has a cleared path to victory? Which is a better investment for consumers? Which can provide the best gaming experience possible?

Let's face it, these gaming consoles don't come inexpensive. And in the face of a worldwide recession, we are going to want the best price for our cash. So, which machine will be worth our hard earned dough? The Xbox360 or the PS3?

Alas, the solution to that query relies on five key points that each zealous gamer is troubled about.

1. Which machine has a deeper game catalogue? Games outline game machines, not the opposite. Quality, of course, is more crucial than quantity, but a console that has one hundred games has better possibilities of getting more quality games than a console which has fifty games. When it comes to the range of the game library, the Xbox360 is the definitive winner. Having been released a year prior to the PS3, the Xbox360 has been able to amass quite a number of exclusive titles. WINNER: Xbox 360.

2. Which console offers a more rewarding online experience? Basically, this is a bout between Xbox Live and the Playstation Network. The distinction between them is clear, yet a definite winner is difficult. Xbox Live offers a smooth, optimized multi player experience. The Playstation Network is said to be quite laggy. Xbox Live hosts more demos and freebies than its opposite number. Though the Playstation Network has developed a 2nd Life social networking, avatar-based game called Home, the Xbox Live has locked down partnerships with a slew of digital distributors that will stream content for Xbox360 owners. The most important point here though, is that Playstation Network is totally free, whereas Xbox Live costs quite a considerable amount for monthly upkeep. Considering this, the small technicalities of Playstation Network's occassional lag can definitely be overlooked. WINNER: Playstation 3.

3. Which console is more reliable? The PS3 is known as a particularly durable machine. There are even rumors that the Eastern engineers who test drove the PS3 had it play continuously inside a sauna bath… and the unit fared extraordinarily, well. The Xbox360 is afflicted by endless reports of blunder codes involving three red lights - infamously known as 3RL - which suggest general hardware failure that will render the console unplayable. Though Microsoft has attempted to fix the situation by extending the Xbox 360's warranty to an unique three years, the PS3 is the current console that delivers uninterrupted gaming delight. If you need to play confidently about your console, go for the PS3. WINNER: Playstation 3.

4. Which console is more affordable? As of this writing, the Xbox360 Arcade package costs $199, and the base package costs $299. The Playstation 3 80GB costs $399 and Sony refuses to implement a price cut, saying that they already lose $307 for every unit sold since production of the PS3 is quite pricey. WINNER: Xbox360.

Based on the 4 areas of doubt debated above, there is no definitive winner as both consoles have pros and cons which must be considered.

But the more important question is : is which points discussed mean more to you as a consumer. Consider these and you will no doubt find your answer.

Best Sites For Xbox 360 Cheats

June 25, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Not everybody is a hardcore gamer. Not all gamers wish to spend numerous hours each day in front of their Xbox 360 just to finish games, unlock achievements, play multi player matches, and brag about game stats. Also, finishing a game once means opening up extra features or levels, and players may wish to speed through a second sitting to get to the good stuff by using cheats.

Most Microsoft games have Xbox 360 cheats. A majority of them were purposely implemented by the designers themselves to give gamers the option to take the simpler, even though less rewarding, way. Basically, these so-called "Xbox 360 cheats" were placed in games to help developers test out the title during development. It'll be quite difficult looking for bugs while juggling 3 lives and no 1ups, after all.

There are a lot of places on the web where you can find Xbox 360 cheats for the titles you own. Here are four of the most popular internet sites devoted to hosting Xbox 360 cheats:

1. GameFaqs.com. If folk want cheats and codes - including Xbox 360 cheats and codes - they usually come to GameFaqs.com. GameFaqs is a part of the highly popular video gaming website, GameSpot.com. It's a place where gamers themselves can submit FAQs and Walkthroughs of their favourite games. A number of these documents are very masterfully made. Xbox 360 cheats and codes are also accepted, and are hosted in a special category within the website.

2. CheatCC.com. CheatCC is the second most popular destination for people who are looking for Xbox 360 cheats. Its database is just as complete as GameFaqs'. However, what makes CheatCC a 2nd placer in numerous books is its shortage of a sense of community amongst its members, something which GameFaqs has attempted to build - successfully at that - throughout the years.

3. Gamewinners.com. The same gamers who make guides for diverse titles often submit their works to either GameFaqs, CheatCC, Gamewinners, or all 3 of them. So it shouldn't be surprising to find the same level of comprehensiveness in all three internet sites when it comes to Xbox 360 cheats.

4. Cheats.IGN.com. IGN.com is one of the web's largest computer gaming websites. In reality, across the years, IGN has become an authority site, quoted by many outlets instead of quoting from many sources. IGN.com has dozens of categories in its pages, among them is a cheats office, and within this department is an area solely devoted to Xbox 360 cheats.

Section 8 Coming to Xbox 360 and PC

April 24, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

The first person shooter genre is crowded with a range of well respected and successfully noted games, so it's difficult for newcomers to mark a mark on the medium unless they offer somthing but impressive and different enough to warrant the attention of gamers. Developer Timegate is best known for their work on the hit Kohan strategy series, the Axis & Allies translation from board to videogame, and recently the Fear expansion Extraction Point. A predominance for work in the strategy genre arena makes their latest offerings in FPS a welcome and interesting diversion.

The titular Section 8 is a government owned branch dedicated to combating any interstellar threat posed to humanity. Armed and armoured to the hightest degree of technological offering, Section 8 are the best line of defence, with suits which augment their already vastly honed bodies and skills, enabling them to perform martial feats normally beyond that of a normal soldier.

So far, this isn't sounding terribly original, but early trailers and previews reveal that Section 8 is looking to be a very intelligent and story-driven game. But what you don't get to know in the trailers is exactly what the gameplay itself is like, though there are hints; such as some intense action, including the main character and his squad performing a routine plummet from a ship orbiting the earth, spinning through the air, and landing neatly on the planet's surface. This is called "burning in". This is actually manifested in game terms, allowing the player to designate an intended landing spot before the level begins, and taking an extent of control in what manner their character falls through the air and lands. This isn't just a gimmick, as the landing areas have varying strategic bonuses and threats, such as anti-personell guns and entrenchments.

Alongside the intense and immersive story mode, Section 8 is set to push further that most important aspect of the FPS: the online multiplayer mode. Mixing features previously seen in Battlefield 2142 and Renegade, expect player classes, experience points, money to earn and control points. As in single player mode, the burning in feature will be employed in multiplayer, adding a whole new level of strategy to the proceedings. From here different areas of the battlefield will be contested, and the myriad possibilites of deployment, assualt and defence will be used to the best degree.

Coming to the Xbox 360 and PC this Autumn, Section 8 is shaping up to be a title definitely worth a look.
