September 12, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

In this era of the World Wide Web everything can be found in a click. You name it and you have it. The notion goes for games and movies also. If you need to load your PSP with this media, all you need to do is to have a look for the websites where these are offered and then take your pick from a wide range of choices.

PSP download is not really difficult. Most frequently it's straightforward and you can easily try doing it on your own. The days of turning to a gaming club or a disk library are well past. With the help of the Internet you can address all your gaming needs while sitting at home.

If you want to download a PSP title this next list will guide you into the process :

1. Firstly you must increase the space on your PSP as it has to hold the PSP download. The majority of downloads are more than 32 MB, which is the amount that the built-in memory stick includes. So it is probable that you want to get an extra memory stick.

2. Have a search on the web to discover PSP friendly games or movies. When you do a PSP download it is better to be careful concerning the content. Be careful of any pathogen or faulty downloads that can infect your PSP. Also it will pay to look into whether what you are getting contains the whole or just a part of the file. Once you have chosen what you need and are finished with these measures, save the required files on your PC browser.

3. The majority of these downloads are often zipped. So you need software such as Winzip ( in your computer ) or Stuffit Expander ( in your MAC ) to unzip the files and get them ready for a journey to your PSP.

4. Link your PSP to the PC with the aid of a USB wire which comes with your PSP. What you are able to do next is to bring your PSP to a link that's USB compatible and hey presto! Your gaming tool is thus ready for a PSP download!

5. Copy the file to your PSP and disengage it from your PC. You can now enter the download on the former.

However, similar to most other stuff in life, this straightforward and readily available function has its down side. More frequently than not various sites are stricken with malware and fraudulent content. These can bring heavy drawbacks to your PC. So be careful about the site where you find your PSP download and happiness is simply a click away!

Star Trek Online For PC and Xbox 360!

August 5, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

No, it's not what you think. It is not a latest cash-in attempt. Star Trek Online has been about for a while, originally developed by Infinite Entertainment for a total of four years, but handed over to Cryptic Studios when the company went bankrupt. It's just that after the fantastic success of the new film, new-found interest in the online game has led the developing studio to divulge some information on the project. For the first time in years, Cryptic Studios have shared their progress on the game with the general public.

So, folk have been wondering : where in the timeline does Star Trek Online take place? According to Cryptic, in the year 2409, just after the dissolution of the peace treaty between the Federation and the Klingons. The developers understand that gamers expect to be ready to play as a selection of races, eg the Borg, but it's something that they'll have to address post-launch. For the moment, this is the way it is. Be assured, however, that the Federation and Klingon races are quite different and unique to one another, and the studio has every intention of ensuring the gameplay is as deep as diverse from that viewpoint.

In fact, though it is not entirely clear how this may work into the gameplay right now, it is easy for players to custom-build their own races, which other players can then pick and play as. How cool is that? Ships, too, are customizable, but only to the limit that the ship still has the trademark look of it's race or alliance.

Space combat could be intense (as the game's preview trailer implies) but it is also tactical. You've got to think about such points as your ship's transference of power and the point on your enemy's ship where you wish to strike. Such features should make for some pretty deep combat, something MMO's can always use.

There's no official date of release for the game yet, but Cryptic propose to release Star Trek Online shortly for the PC and Xbox 360.

Spore Hero Comes To PC, Mac and Wii!

June 18, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Spore was released on the PC last autumn and has already amassed enough popularity to green light a pair of growth packs and spinoffs. One such spinoff is named Spore Hero, and is scheduled to be released on the PC, Mac, and Wii, comprising of an open world adventure game and starring a unusual creature that can control it's own physical evolution on the fly.

At the game's start the hero crashlands on an alien planet on board a blue meteor. Initially our hero is arely a hatchling, but as you explore the landscape and complete quests you can unlock new parts and capabilities. Around the globe are scattered varied creatures with exclamation marks floating above their heads, in a fashion rather reminiscent of World Of Warcraft. This means you can interact with them, taking part in activities like singing, dancing, or fighting. Sometimes they have a problem, and they are going to tell you what it is. If you can fix it, there will be a reward.

As for control, Spore Hero takes a very different approach from past games in the series. Where in the PC versions you continue to use the cursor to click where you want your character to go, for the Wii you use the nunchuk's analog control. Also, combat control develops over time, just as the creature does. Combos and capabilities, as well as how you control them, shift with the character.

As you gain parts you can bring them back to assorted huge nests scattered around the planet. These nests provide the opportunity to customize character's appearances, both playable and non-playable. An example in which this comes handy is when the player meets a male creature attempting to please a female who doesn't like his looks. After a conversation with her you can get an idea of what her tastes and preferences are, bring the male to the nest, and just make a few modifications.

Spore Hero is a very different and interesting take on the Spore franchise, and appears to be targeting a wider audience across multi-platforms. Fans brave enough to try something new should definitely look out for Spore Hero!

Star Trek D-A-C

May 8, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Following the release of the highly anticipated new Star Trek film by J.J Abrams, it is clear it is not a continuation from the last Star Trek film Nemesis, which was the last voyage of the Next Generation crew, but instead a reboot of the franchise from the beginning. It will not try and remake classic Star Trek films like The Wrath of Khan, it is instead a Star Trek in an alternate reality.

So what does this have to do with games? Well, as most blockbuster action films come with video games so does the new Star Trek film, Star Trek D-A-C.

Star Trek D-A-C is simple top down space game based on J.J Abrams aforementioned movie reboot of the series. It pitches the Federation against the Romulan Empire. Star Trek D-A-C allows you to choose between three ships, each with its own unique abilities that can help turn the tide of war. On offer are nimble fighters, powerful bombers and the almighty flagships. The new, sleek looking U.S.S Enterprise is available to Starfleet commanders.

star trek dac cover 01 Star Trek D A C

The game features three modes of play, singleplayer, online multiplayer and online co-op. For each individual mode there are a further three more game types, Assault, Conquest and Team Deathmatch.

Star Trek D-A-C is not like most film-based video games. The film-based video games have a similarly “big budget” as there film counterparts do, though not usually the same scale. Film-based games try to have a side story to the film and try to enhance on what the film did in the theatre. Examples of these are the newly released X-Men Origins: Wolverine game and the upcoming Terminator Salvation game. Star Trek D-A-C is completely different. First off, Star Trek D-A-C is not available in stores but instead available for download through the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network services. Secondly, it looks to not have the budget these games tend to carry with them, which isn’t a bad thing. The top down 2d approach, similar in style to an RTS type game, works for Star Trek D-A-C. The not too fancy graphics also work, the lack of story to “complement” the film is also a good thing.

So your thinking there is nothing much too it then? Well yes, it is an incredibly simple game. Up to 6 people per side battle it out in a the depths of space. The game is classed as being 2D, but really it is played from a perspective that makes it look 2d. The game does, however, play on a 2D plane, which limits vertical movement, but in the background the developers have managed to create a sense of depth to the game, with lots of activity going on in the background. All the ships are rendered in 3D, and will even tilt when turning, other objects like space stations and asteroids are also in 3D.

Star Trek D-A-C is not a master revision of any Star Trek games, mainly because there aren’t many good ones worth remaking, like the movie it comes from, nor is it a mastery revision of film-based video games. It is just a simple space combat shooter that takes influence from the new film, and so far it’s the only game where you can control the new U.S.S Enterprise! And that’s what makes it stand out from the rest. On a last note, Paramount Digital Entertainment have kept what the D-A-C stands for a tight secret and will announce what it means later. Have any guesses? Ours would be on the lines of the three game types, Deathmatch, Assault and Conquest, boring yes so lets hope it means something better!

Star Trek D-A-C is out this month initially for the Xbox 360 via the Live Arcade service, and will be released later for the PlayStation 3 via PSN and PC.

Section 8 Coming to Xbox 360 and PC

April 24, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

The first person shooter genre is crowded with a range of well respected and successfully noted games, so it's difficult for newcomers to mark a mark on the medium unless they offer somthing but impressive and different enough to warrant the attention of gamers. Developer Timegate is best known for their work on the hit Kohan strategy series, the Axis & Allies translation from board to videogame, and recently the Fear expansion Extraction Point. A predominance for work in the strategy genre arena makes their latest offerings in FPS a welcome and interesting diversion.

The titular Section 8 is a government owned branch dedicated to combating any interstellar threat posed to humanity. Armed and armoured to the hightest degree of technological offering, Section 8 are the best line of defence, with suits which augment their already vastly honed bodies and skills, enabling them to perform martial feats normally beyond that of a normal soldier.

So far, this isn't sounding terribly original, but early trailers and previews reveal that Section 8 is looking to be a very intelligent and story-driven game. But what you don't get to know in the trailers is exactly what the gameplay itself is like, though there are hints; such as some intense action, including the main character and his squad performing a routine plummet from a ship orbiting the earth, spinning through the air, and landing neatly on the planet's surface. This is called "burning in". This is actually manifested in game terms, allowing the player to designate an intended landing spot before the level begins, and taking an extent of control in what manner their character falls through the air and lands. This isn't just a gimmick, as the landing areas have varying strategic bonuses and threats, such as anti-personell guns and entrenchments.

Alongside the intense and immersive story mode, Section 8 is set to push further that most important aspect of the FPS: the online multiplayer mode. Mixing features previously seen in Battlefield 2142 and Renegade, expect player classes, experience points, money to earn and control points. As in single player mode, the burning in feature will be employed in multiplayer, adding a whole new level of strategy to the proceedings. From here different areas of the battlefield will be contested, and the myriad possibilites of deployment, assualt and defence will be used to the best degree.

Coming to the Xbox 360 and PC this Autumn, Section 8 is shaping up to be a title definitely worth a look.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

March 27, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

After the massive success of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Game of the Year from Infinity Ward, it is still collecting rewards two years after it's release, there would be no doubt that a sequel would be on its way. With Activision's policy of releasing a game from the Call of Duty franchise, with Infinity Ward and Treyarch releasing their variant alternately, this year is Infinity Ward's tough task of matching and bettering the standards set by the brilliant Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

So far news of the second installment has been hard to come by, until Infinity Ward sent out a cryptic message on Twitter. Then at the Games Developers Conference (GDC), Infinity Ward and Activision revealed a teaser trailer for the masses.

The trailer oozes subtle clues, but doesn't really say anything about what the game will be like and what improvements Infinity Ward have made. All those will have to wait until the release, which has been stated as November 10th.

On an interesting note, nowhere in the trailer does it say Call of Duty, only Modern Warfare 2. Are they dropping the Call of Duty tag from their games? Is it just for marketing purposes? Who knows, but recently the Call of Duty series has dropped the numbering system with Call of Duty: World at War, which people thought was Call of Duty 5. Whatever Activision and Infinity Ward are doing with the Call of Duty franchise, Modern Warfare 2 is definitely going to be anticipated. you can watch the trailer below.

Tom Clancy’s HAWX

March 11, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Over recent years, the name of Tom Clancy has become increasingly famous and prominent throughout the gaming world. Games carrying his seal are typically multi-layered and detailed military affairs, blending FPS action with the intrigue and operation of covert missions. These games have led to a number of popular franchises, including Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon.

As time has gone on, the style of the Clancy games has become more refined, blending realism with the rip roaring action to a point of almost perfection. And it seems that he's not stopping there, as the company are set to release his newest creation, a combat flight simulator titled HAWX, this Spring. Now, flight simulars are a common affair these days, so one may wonder what  all the fuss is about, but developers Ubisoft intend to take HAWX to a new level of realism. Land graphics have been carefully modeled after detailed satellite data of the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Africa.

51kpnWe0dAL. SL160 Tom Clancys HAWX

When complete, the game will contain seventeen levels spread out over sixteen settings, some of which reportedly include South America, Mexico, Afganistan, Cape Canaveral and others. Integrating aspects from earlier games, some levels will feature supporting land fighters from Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2. Some nifty and skilful touches have been added to the gameplay, involving heightened options for evasion. These range from jinking, dummy flares and even a shipbound smart computer, predicting favoured paths for your escape.

This computer, called Pilot Assistance, can also help you track down a particularly evasive enemy, among other things. The PA is a good installation for introducing newcomers to flight simulation as it provides a lot of assistance early on, but can later be jammed by enemy technology.

HAWX is also set to feature online gaming options, including both co-operative and competitive gameplay for upto eight players; a highly exciting prospect in itself. Tom Clancy has become a byword for class and style, and HAWX looks set to continue that trend with a crisp and methodical gameplay coupled with the sheer fun of multiplayer action. Look out for it on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3!

Godfather II

March 10, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

2006 saw the initial release of Electronic Art's Godfather, an open world action adventure which merged new gameplay and story elements with archive footage of the film itself, creating a realistic movie tie-in generally viewed as one of the best film based videogames ever released. The sequel is now available and takes the gaming to a whole new level.

Though considered one of the great PS2 games, The Godfather had a few grating flaws, such as recycled modeling that caused the environment to become a lot less authentic, very faulty artificial intelligence, and an unsteady frame rate. Obviously the developers have fixed these bugs now that they're working with much more powerful systems, aswell as building upon the gameplay to create a more intelligent and challenging game.

51CPcWiXaJL. SL160 Godfather II

As you're starting out, intending to establish yourself as a force within the world of organised crime, you have access to a number of associates. These typically perform different functions, such as medics and explosives experts. As your power and influence grows, so too will the roster of associates available to you.

The "Don's View", a highly detailed and intuitive map allows you to spy out the criminal world around you, giving you the best options of who to challenge and how it will further your gains. It's then down to the action adventure style hits and shoot outs reminiscient of the first game.

As you would expect from a game based on organised crime, The Godfather II is an extremely violent game, incorporating pulse-pounding shoot outs with inventive ways to further your cause and stay alive. If this sounds like your kinda thing, pick it up for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
