Raiden as a character has divided fans of the franchise for many years since his debut. Before Metal gear solid: Rising, when he was revealed to be the protagonist of MGS2, replacing the established and popular Solid Snake, many fans were upset and angered. It didn't help that he reportedly came across as whiney and juvenile, his generic pretty boy appearance in stark contrast to the gruff and able Solid Snake fans had come to love.

However, Raiden returned in MGS4 as a non-playable character, and instantly took the gaming world by storm. Free from the burden of carrying the game on his shoulders and with a reinvented persona which saw him more mature and deadly, Raiden played a pivotal role in the story and his action scenes were easily the best in the game. He had gone from being the joke of the franchise to stealing the show. Now he is set to return to main man duties in Metal gear Solid: Rising.

Little is known about this title so far, with the teaser trailer only offering a brief glimpse of gameplay. However, Metal Gear Solid: Rising did showcase an interesting quirk which allows Raiden to enter a 'bullet-time' like mode, wherein you can plot the course of his sword slashes and therefore make for some interesting (and gory) attack methods.

Some fear that Raiden is not meant to lead a game, and that his recent successful return is owed to the fleeting quality of his appearances. That said, his reinvented character, along with the impressive looking teaser trailer, is beginning to douse the fears of many. Metal Gear Solid: Rising could mark the advent of one of gaming's greatest spin-offs!

Resonance of Fate revolves around a future civilisation which is crumbling into chaos. Vast cities are being poisoned whilst the aristocratic upper classes do nothing to help, and you command three characters fighting for justice. Gameplay revolves exclusively around gun battles, and as you progress further your firearms can be customized and augmented.

The combat system employed throughout Resonance of Fate has divided audiences. Initially, it is quite unforgiving and piles a lot of information onto the player at once, making it all seem quite difficult when starting out. However, commit a few solid hours to mastering it and the result is an intricate and dynamic system displaying balletic gun battles.

Graphically, the game is impressive to look at and provides a detailed steampunk style world. The characters are pretty in a generic anime way, although the ongoing 'boutique' feature, which allows you to customize your characters appearance throughout Resonance of Fate, is a great addition.

Overall, this is a great addition to the JRPG genre. It takes a risk with the age old combat system and, whilst the result won't be to everyone's taste, it is a commendable effort. It looks great and crucially includes the favourite RPG elements such as towns and NPC interaction, which have been curiously missing in other recent high profile offerings. If you're a fan of JRPGs with an individual twist, give Resonance of Fate a try.

2. Metal Gear Solid 4 : Guns of the Patriots. Konami's smash hit franchise continued on the PS3 console, and sales immediately followed suit. MGS4 is the game in Hideo Kojima's legendary series that sold the greatest number of copies within a particularly short period. It was actually the first software title that essentially brought about a rise in PS3 console sales. Number of copies sold : more than 3 million.

3. Grand Theft Auto 4. It isn't an exclusive, but the PS3 console was a favorite system for the interest in GTA4. Though the Xbox 360 version displayed better graphics, people preferred to play a lengthy game like this on a console that won't collapse because of some unknown cause. Number of copies sold : 2.7 million.

4. Uncharted : Drake's Fortune. This dark horse of a game surprised everyone by being an instant cult favorite. Number of copies sold : 2.6 million.

5. Resistance : Fall of Man. Many criticised the PS2-esque graphics which totally enfeebled the power possessed by the PS3 console. But again, it was a launch title and people were hungry for exclusive games. The result? Number of copies sold : 2.5 million.

1. Power. Third party developers have always complained about how hard it is to make games for the PS3 due to its maze-like infrastructure. The Xbox 360 is like a computer system, thus, better to code for. The result : games that are released for both systems generally look better on the Xbox 360.

3.Game library. The Xbox 360 was released a year before the PS3. Developers also say that they'd rather make games for the Xbox 360 because it's a better system to work with. Activision, developers and distributors of the widely acclaimed Call of Duty series, have even promised to stop developing for the PS3 out of sheer disappointment. It comes as little surprise, then, the Xbox 360 has a deeper game library and wins this round of the Xbox 360 vs PS3 fight.

4. Exclusives. Despite Xbox's Halo, Gears of War and Fable, the PS3 has Killzone, Resistance, Uncharted, Ratchet and rattle, little Big Planet and more. When it comes to sheer variety, the PS3 wins this facet of the battle.

Pretty equal pegging, then. In the end, it's all about personal preference, take that for what it's worth deciding on which console to purchase.

Final Fantasy XIII? Old news. Besides, it is not even exclusive to the Sony PS3 anymore.

God of War 3? Everyone knew it was coming, sooner or later. Also, a recording of Kratos ascending the back of a Titan has been making the rounds since late in 2008.

Gran Turismo 5? Barely. The Prologue has been in the marketplace for more than two years now.

The most important piece of PS3 news from E3 is something that was only discussed in passing inadvertently or accidentally in the arrival of footages for Final Fantasy XIII.

The most important PS3 stories from E3 is this : Final Fantasy XIV is DEFINITELY coming in 2010. Some still shots of the game were shown, and they look fantastic!

Final Fantasy XIII is booked to be released stateside in spring of 2010. The question arises: would not both Final Fantasy installments cannibalize each other? After all, isn't it foolish to release two products and make them struggle with one another for a similar audience? In fact, Final Fantasy XIV is balanced to be another great MMORPG for Play Online.

To fully appreciate the scale of this PS3 report, it has to be noted that Final Fantasy XIV is the first ever console MMORPG. Final Fantasy XI is also the first MMORPG to go cross-platform, appearing on the PS2, the computer, and the Xbox 360. It remains a highly favored MMORPG to this very day, more than seven years from its original release.

From the passing trailer that was shown, folks appeared to be convinced that Final Fantasy XIV is more true to the spirit of the series than Final Fantasy XI ever was. Whether or not it is an exclusive, or it is simply a timed exclusive, is yet to be seen. But the sheer impact of this PS3 report cannot be denied: people will be logging on 2010 solely to complete their Final Fantasy experience.

However, in the fickle world of todays game industry, there are no permanent coalitions. For example take a look at Nintendo and Square. At Nintendo and Sony.  Microsoft and Rare. Look at Microsoft and Bungie Soft.

They might be Xbox 360 exclusives today, but it is only a matter of time before these five titles will appear on the Sony Play Station 3:

1. Dead Rising. Capcom's "other" zombie hit was one of the first titles for Microsoft's then fledgling computer game machine. Reviews about the game were mixed. Some called it cutting edge, while others called it repetitive. Others described it as a technological marvel, while some claimed that it was all icing. There was applaud for the game being pure fun, while others protesting that they did not get the "scares" that they predicted. Without regard for the reception about Dead Rising, the fact is, it is not an exclusive "exclusive." It has since been ported to the Nintendo Wii, and industry commentators are envisioning that it's simply a matter of time before Dead Rising rises on the PS 3. Also, Capcom is currently keeping mum on the question of what system the announced Dead Rising 2 will be appearing on, something which many people believe is a clear sign the franchise is heading for the PlayStation 3.

2. Mass Effect. People are mistakenly under the impression that Microsoft owns the rights to the Mass Effect franchise. The intellectual property belongs to Bioware, which has an exclusive developer's contract with Microsoft. When this contract ends, Bioware can bring its property wherever it pleases - and the PlayStation 3 might be the new home of this controversial space-faring, lesbian-loving, science Fiction RPG.

3. Star Ocean : The Last Hope. It is not common for seemingly exclusive RPGs to jump shift to another. Most Eastern developers only agree to a "timed exclusive" clause, any way. Such is the case with Eternal Sonata and Tales of Vesperia which were first released on the Xbox 360 but finally found their way to the PlayStation 3, with added content to boot. Tri-Ace's newest masterpiece, as published by Square-Enix, may follow that lead, as Sony's line of consoles are the conventional houses of JRPGs (Japanese Role Playing Games ) .

4. Blue Dragon. The dream team that encompasses Mistwalker are reportedly unhappy with the performance of their first game for the Xbox 360, and the first JRPG for the claimed system. Microsoft's console only has a limited base in Japan, and this made a contribution to the poor sales experienced by Blue Dragon. Once the timed exclusive agreement with Microsoft expires, folks envision that Mistwalker will bring their franchise to the Sony Play Station three. But first, they must publish one game under such an agreement - Blue Dragon 2.

5. Ninja Gaiden II. This is a given. One of the highest rated action platformers today will appear on the Sony PlayStation 3, eventually. Of course, an improved of its predecessor, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, made the jump a year after debuting on the Xbox 360.
